Protect Your Investment Maintain the furnace that keeps you warm all winter. Call G&G Sales & Service and have them take care of routine maintenance or do it yourself with this handy checklist:
Daily:
- Broadcast Ashtrol in the firebox
- Stir, Scrape and pull ashes in firebox forward as needed
- Check water level
Monthly:
- Inspect door rope, chimney and vent cap
- Remove ashes and clean firebox as needed
Every 6 months:
- Scrape and inspect the firebox, flue and chimney as needed
- Lubricate the solenoid plunger (with a product such as WD-40)
- Check pH and nitrate levels in water semiannually or if water is added and add water treatment if necessary.
At the end of each heating season:
- Check pH and nitrate levels in water at the end of the heating season or if water is added and add water treatment if necessary
- Remove ashes
- Scrape walls and floor of firebox
- Clean excessive buildup from behind the baffle and in the chimney flue
- Inspect the firebox thoroughly
- Apply motor oil to all surfaces of the firebox
- Place a cover over the chimney
